What are the delegate fees and how do I get a discount?

What are the Hotel costs and booking arrangements?

Hotel accommodation MUST be booked by the delegate/FRS directly with the hotels below (a block booking of rooms has been made under the name of NWFS so please quote NWFS when booking.)

How do I get from the hotels to the venues?

NWFS will provide coaches to transport delegates from their hotels to the Training Centre and return, to the evening events on Friday and Saturday nights.  

Why isn’t the event being held at Fire Service College?

The Network has based its main event at Fire Service College over recent years, however, after requests from many services, and with financial considerations, events will be moved around the country to allow fairer access for all.  

What is the full address of the training centre?

What is planned for the evenings?

Friday evening, there will be an official opening of the event and formal address, keynote speaker, and the annual NWFS Awards presentations, followed by entertainment, this will be held at Gateshead Civic Centre.   On Saturday evening, there will be a less formal dinner followed by entertainment, and of course delegates are free to explore the delights of the vibrant city of Newcastle.  

What about childcare?

On this occasion, due to the logistics of the venues and financial considerations we are unable to offer any childcare facilities. Those individuals who would be prevented from attending due to sole responsibility for childcare please contact Karen Smith khsmith@tiscali.co.uk or  01366 381237  

Who should attend?

We are inviting women from across all roles within the UK Fire and Rescue service.  

Can men attend?

We are not excluding men from attending this event, however as delegate numbers are restricted, we will give priority to booking applications from women.  

Will there be an opportunity to meet with people from my region?

Yes, on Sunday morning we will have regional meetings, this will give you a chance to network and build up links within your own area. NWFS is looking to run local events and this may be a chance for you to become more involved.   

I would like to take a more active role in NWFS, how can I do this? 

Regional meetings will be followed by the AGM. If you are interested in taking a more active role in the Network, make contact with our administrator Karen Smith now to see which positions will be coming available,  khsmith@tiscali.co.uk  

Is it possible to share transport from my home service to the North East?

Yes, we will encourage our regional representatives to help organise this.  As bookings are received by the office, we will share the information, so that mini buses and coaches can be shared between services as needed.  

Can I attend any workshops?

Operational workshops are restricted to firefighters with authorisation from their FRS.  Workshops of a sensitive nature may be restricted to women only.  

What is the dress code?

• Friday evening : formal (smart dress, no jeans and t-shirts)
• During the workshops:  casual
• Operational workshops: full fire kit as provided by your FRS
• Be a firefighter: full fire kit will be provided, be sure to bring your own comfortable trousers, t-shirt and socks (trainer socks may lead to blisters.)
• Practical / fitness sessions: comfortable fitness gear

 Showering facilities are available at the training centre.  

Will I be able to buy photos or DVDs of the event?

There will be photographers on site throughout the weekend, NWFS may use the materials for future promotional activities. We also hope to produce either a CD or DVD of the event which will be available for you to purchase, if you object to having your photograph taken or used in this way please inform Karen Smith, khsmith@tiscali.co.uk   and make yourself known to the photographers on the day.  

What if I book and then I can not attend?

Bookings are non refundable, however your FRS may send another delegate in your place.
