Over 70 delegates attended Networking Women in the Fire Service AGM and Women’s Development Day on Thursday 12 November 2009. The event, generously hosted by the West Midlands Fire Service, offered practical workshops, personal development seminars and the opportunity to network with people from Fire Services all over the country.
Members are often questioned and criticised for organising women only events, in an effort to support members in dealing with these challenges, NWFS has produced a statement explaining the rationale, detailing the benefits and positive outcomes of such events.
Having accomplished the Sub 24hour 3 peaks challenge last year, NWFS members looked for a new, and somewhat wetter, challenge.
Following the successful positive action events in Ely, Cambridgeshire, the team are now planning to head off to Brighton, between 6-9 October to assist East Sussex FRS in their have a go days.
A series of stamps has been released by the Royal Mail highlighting the danger of being a firefighter.
